The first record of the Methodist Church in Keeneyville was in the
year 1892. They met in conjunction with the Odd Fellows until 1901
when a fire destroyed their building. The current building was built
around 1901. At that time the church was a member of the Genessee
Conference of New York. They remained there until the 1960's when
the church was transferred to the Williamsport District in the
Central Pennsylvania Conference. At a later date, the church became
a member of the newly formed Wellsboro District. The church remained the same until the 1950's when the annex was added to provide social and Sunday School rooms and a kitchen. The dedication was made by Reverend Richard Plants in 1955. The worship center at the time was on the east side of the building and the pews were in a circular formation. The worship center was completely remodeled in the 1960's and has remained as is to date. Three Sunday School rooms were added above the annex in the 1980's. During the later 1980's the current ramp entrance was added and new siding was placed on the church. In the early 1990's the current carpet was placed in the sanctuary. Soon after, the siding was completed and new carped was installed in the annex. | |
