Prayer Ministry

"Do not be anxious about anything but in everything,
By prayer and petition, with thanksgiving,
Present your request to God."

--Philippians 4:6

Kirbyville United Methodist Church has a very active and devoted Prayer Ministry. Our Prayer Group meets weekly and prays daily, and our Prayer Chain is "on call" 24x7. You can raise prayer requests during Worship on Sundays, fill out Prayer Request Cards, or call the Prayer Chain. Community prayer requests are also received in our box at Brookshire's.

The Prayer Group meets every Monday afternoon (except holidays) at 3:30 p.m. in the Church Library. We maintain a printed prayer list of members, relatives, community & friends, Avalon Place residents, United Methodist Pastors and members of the military. We have chosen not to post this list here on our site in order to secure their privacy.

However, the complete Prayer Concerns list is available each Sunday morning inserted in your worship bulletin; and the full list can be obtained from the church office.

To have your prayer request added to the printed prayer list, please fill out a Prayer Request Card (found in the pew racks) and put it in the offering plate at the collection of tithes and offerings. You are still very welcome to raise a prayer request during Worship and/or call the Prayer Chain. However, if you would like a name added to the Prayer Concerns List, we need you to fill out a Prayer Request Card.

The new Prayer Request Cards also give you the opportunity to request prayers from the Prayer Group without having the name added to the published prayer list. And the cards provide the Prayer Group members with more information to help us know exactly what to pray for and who to contact for updates.

We also would really appreciate updates on your prayer requests--the resolution of the situation, the need for continued prayers, etc. You can submit another Prayer Request Card or call the Prayer Chain or church office to give us the information. We meet weekly on Monday afternoons at 3:30 p.m. in the church Library.

And God will wipe away all tears from their eyes;
And there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying,
Neither shall there be any more pain;
For the former things are passed.

--Revelation 21:4

Stewardship of Prayer includes reading your Bible. If you are looking for scripture to use in personal reflection this week, Pastor Matt selects his sermon text each week from the Lectionary. The Lectionary is a three-year rotation of scripture verses from the Psalms, the Old Testament, the Gospels and the New Testament.
