TO: UNITED METHODIST WOMEN TREASURERS AND PRESIDENTS FROM: KERRVILLE DISTRICT TREASURER 2006 is winding down and I can’t believe how fast it has gone. I want you all to know how much I appreciate the way you made my job easier by your timely reports. I especially appreciated the way the reports came in for the Annual Meeting. It was a big job for me to compile all those figures and you made it a lot easier by getting information to me on time. Our District’s Pledge to the Conference is $38,000. To date this year we have received a total of $25,367.56 toward our Pledge (counting Pledges and Mission Giving, formerly Undesignated Giving). We still have a way to go. At Annual Meeting this year we reported 19 Units as Five Star Units and 12 Five Star Women. Treasurers, you are to keep the records to submit names of Five Star Women. We are encouraging all Units to become Five Star Units by participating in the following: 1) Pledge to Mission 2) Gift to Mission (a $5 card to honor someone—we even have Christmas cards 3) Gift in Memory (you should have these cards on hand) 4) Special Mission Recognition pin to honor someone costs $35 (ORDER BEFORE DECEMBER) 5) World Thank Offering--NOW IS THE TIME TO EXPRESS THANKS! Send as soon as you can. Note: giving in this 4th quarter counts toward Five Star Status for 2007. Dates to keep before you: 1st Quarter - December 1-February 28 (due to me March 1-5) 2nd Quarter -March 1 – May 31 (due to me by June 5) 3rd Quarter - June 1 – August 31 (due to me by Sept. 5) 4th Quarter – September 1 – November 30 (due to me by Dec.5) The importance of these dates is that my deadline to the Conference Treasurer is 5 days after your deadline so that the money can go to the Women’s Division on time. A VERY IMPORTANT DATE is Leadership Training, January 20, 2007, at Comfort UMC. If you can possibly be there it is a time to clarify information, answer questions, meet one another and ESPECIALLY if you are a new treasurer it is a great learning time. I wish everyone could be there. I really need names, addresses, e-mail, and phone numbers of new treasurers as soon as possible so I can get information to them. ASSEMBLY OFFERING can still be received through the end of this year. The money “will be used make grants to organizations and projects serving women, children and youth by addressing nutrition, transportation, and safe homes.” (Response magazine, Sept. 1006) Please feel free to communicate with me if you have questions. I will do my best to find the answer if I don’t know it. It has been a good year and I hope you feel as I do that though we are not out in the mission field, we are in mission by doing our part in our local Unit. In Christ, Lila Hulse,
District Treasurer |
