Serving Christ For Over 200 Years

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them. Ephesians 2:8-10

Music Ministry
At Kemble

"Let the peace of Christ dwell in richly as you....sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God."  Colossians 3:16

As an integral part of worship, Music at Kemble Church is dedicated to leading both the congregation and the musicians in worship experiences. While rehearsals are held and preparations are made, the intent of each of our musical presentations is to be an offering, “…pleasing in the sight of God”. Therefore, we do not expect perfection from our efforts, but make every attempt to do the best of our abilities when singing or playing for services at Kemble.

Congregational Singing is lively and inspirational at Kemble! We encourage each member to sing to his or her heart’s desire, praising God in all the hymns and songs that are featured in each worship service.

The Choirs of Kemble include:
The Sanctuary Choir – Children, grades 1-5; Judith Putnam, director
The Chapel Choir – Youth, grades 6-9; Ken Steele, director
The Senior Choir – Youth, grades 10-12, and Adults; Ken Steele, director
The Kemble Handbell Choir – Youth and Adults; Ken Steele, director;
Judith Putnam, assistant/advisor to the director

What’s Happening Section:

CHOIR REHEARSALS - Choir will be coming to an end for this season (2008-2009). However, Choirs Reharsals for the 2009-2010 Choir season will begin again on Thursday, September 3, 2009. The Music Ministry of Kemble Church holds regular rehearsal schedules: Sanctuary Choir (grades 1-5) - Thursdays at 6:30 PM, Raver Hall; Chapel Choir (grades 6-9) - Sundays at 12:00 noon, Carson Room; Hand Bell Choir - Thursdays at 7:00 PM, Chapel; and Senior Choir - Thursdays at 8:00 PM, at the Church.  We are praying that we will see new faces in each of our music ensembles this year!  We are so grateful for the faithful who come out each week to prepare for leading the congregation in worship.  We have a great time together, while presenting great music for God’s glory!  Come be a part of the Song!

NEW ORGAN COMPONENTS - Thanks to the generosity of Gerry and Fred Winkler, we have four new sounds in our Moller-Peragallo Organ at Kemble!  These will add richness to our worship, enhancing the service with the variety of these percussion sounds: Chimes, Harp, Celesta and Cymbelstern.  The last sound is the only one acoustically produced, with the other three being digital. The Cymbelstern is a series of small brass bells that are struck by small tubes on a rotating star or wheel.  Its sound is festive, recalling miniature bells of high holy days and feast days of old!  The new sounds are dedicated to those in the Senior Choir who are no longer with us: Clara Brazier, Judy Beans and Dan Miller. To God be the glory!

Ken Steele, our organist and Choirmaster, piqued our curiosity about the concert by Ted Barr and Tony Thurman, His description, however, could not measure up to the performance delivered by these two musicians on October 25th. With the raradose moved to afford full view of the organ and the grand piano at the center of the altar rail, the visual and musical treat was truly impressive as they treated us to our favorite hymns. Thank you Ken for arranging such a wonderful treat.

ARE YOU READY FOR AN EXCITING NEW EXPERIENCE? On Sunday, November 22nd we will have ONE SERVICE at 10:45 a.m. as the Rev. Jim Hughes will bring the word of God alive through music and drama as he presents Angelsong.  As we prepare for the Advent Season, witness the birth of the Savior from the lofty view of the heavenly host.  Enter into an exciting realm of celebration and music as the hosts of heaven proclaim to God’s lost people “all is well”.  Invite a friend to come and share what truly will be a meaningful and inspiring message.  A free will offering will be taken.
