What is Happening At Kemble
ANNOUNCEMENTS
REMINDER!! It is a policy of Kemble Church to keep the back security door locked and closed when children are present. This means Sunday School, Choir Rehearsal, and Parent’s Time Out. Please do not keep the door propped open at any time. During the week you can be buzzed in. During church, please use the Sanctuary doors to enter the building. Thank you for your cooperation.
REMEMBER! REJOICE! RESPOND!
As we here at Kemble prepare for our 2009 Stewardship Campaign, we invite you to remember the many blessings God has given to you and your family. We know that times are difficult; the economy is poor, the cost of everything is higher, and some of you may even be without a job. It is easy to get caught up in scary times and not think about the many ways God has remained faithful to us. As we remember the positives in our life, let us rejoice that God has given us the privilege of managing the resources he provides. We are instructed to be good stewards and we are to do so responsibly and joyfully.
In the coming weeks we will emphasize in our church services the importance of being good stewards with our prayers, our presence, our talents, and our finances. We ask you to pray earnestly about your pledge so that you can respond in a way that will allow Kemble to meet its budget and continue to move forward in doing God’s work.
Sunday, November 15, will be a special service for Covenant Sunday. Please plan to bring your pledge card to church that day as we demonstrate our commitment to the Lord. Otherwise, please send it to the church office in the enclosed envelope. Thank you. Good stewards remember, rejoice and respond!

Lancaster (848- 7794), Libby Sellen (845 0833), and Mandy Sparacio (241- 3582). Contact any committee member or the church office and we promise to contact you.

MISSION NEWS
GREATER WOODBURY COOPERATIVE MINISTRIES - The Pantry has a need for nonperishable food. We need pancake mix, syrup, canned fruit, peanut butter, jelly, cereal, mashed potatoes (boxed), rice mixes, and coffee (regular and instant). If you are considering a monetary donation to the Food Bank, please make all checks payable to GWCM - Food Pantry.
Home Missions - Not all mission work is done in West Virginia or Kentucky; it is happening right here in our backyard, at the Neighborhood Center in Camden.
A work crew of Kemble members and friends, led by Ray Sweeney and comprised of Nadine Sweeney, Kurt Lang, Carol and Fred Lesser, Alan Conway and son-in-law Joe, and Bernie Carlson tackled the job of renovating a classroom. In 2008 the Center was notified that it was in violation of the State of NJ childcare code for square footage per child in After School and Summer Enrichment program. In order to enlarge one classroom, two closets had to be removed and Ray and his group said, “Send us, Lord.” The demolition aspect had Nadine and Carol carrying out the debris while the men knocked down the walls. Ray and Nadine have spent many hours finishing up the project. Now Ray has also agreed to remove a wall of a second classroom with the help of another volunteer at the Center.
In addition to the work at the Neighborhood Center, the Sweeneys have been very active in preparing Camp Delanco for the upcoming camping season. What a blessing it is that these wonderful people are so willing to share their time and talents for the glory of God and the enrichment of their fellow men.

Jeanne Hagerman
Kemble Church is wishing a fond farewell to Jeanne Hagerman who will be moving to Virginia in October.
We learned much about Jeanne when we interviewed her for the Kemble Konnection Spotlight.
She was born at Parma Corners, NY on her grandfather’s farm on December 23, 1928, the second child of Ellery and Alice Burnett. Her family moved to Woodbury in 1940, where she attended school and graduated from Woodbury High School in 1946. Jeanne attended Temple University where she majored in Physical Education and Health, graduating in 1953 with a B.S. in Education. She then taught at Pitman High School for three years and coached two championship teams in field hockey and basketball.
She married Richard Hagerman and raised two daughters (Susan and Karen) and one son (Jimmy). She became involved in sporting activities and youth groups while her kids were growing up and she joined Kemble in 1958.
Following in her mother’s footsteps, Jeanne became active in Girl Scouting - with camping and water sports as her favorite activities - and taught the Red Cross swimming classes.
Jeanne initiated a recycling program through scouting that became mandated for the City of Woodbury. This project began in 1970 and acquired nationwide recognition, being presented to cities across the U.S.
Quilting became a major part of her life in the 1980s and Jeanne is considered to be an expert in vintage quilts and crazy quilting. Her Crazy Quilts have been featured in National Quilting Magazine. She has been recognized nationwide and has won several awards given by the quilting community.
When plans were being made for the 1997 bi-centennial, Jeanne stepped up and was and enormous inspiration in researching and writing the history of Kemble Church. She published the booklet “These People Called Methodists.” Following this outstanding achievement, Jeanne became Kemble’s official Church Historian.
Among her more recent involvements, she is a member of the Mission Committee and works very hard on the Crop Walk. She assists Rev. Light on the Visitation Team seeing shut-ins and people in need of comfort and support.
It was Jeanne’s vision to begin a quilting group at Kemble called ‘Nancy’s Quilt’s’. The group hand stitches prayer quilts for those in need of comfort. She felt God lead her to share her knowledge and skills to help others. Nancy’s Quilts has delivered 80 quilts since it began in 2006.
Her expertise in restoring vintage quilts and clothing makes her a valuable member of the Gloucester County Historical Society Museum Committee specializing in Textile Restoration and Documentation.
Jeanne (grandmother of five - ages 4 to 30 years of age), is confident that after moving to Virginia to live with her son Jim and his family, her life will continue to be busy with sporting activities, church, and new quilting groups.
We will miss her and wish her luck in her new home.
Dick and Ginny Strang
Dick Strang will be resigning his position as Finance Chairman after 16 years. Dick joined Kemble in 1951 and he and his wife Ginny have been faithful in serving the church in many capacities since then.
Ginny was instrumental in founding Terrific Tuesdays which has grown successfully since its beginning five years ago.
Dick will be undergoing hip surgery soon to renew a hip replacement that was put in 18 years ago. Thanks Dick for a wonderful job these many years.
Dick and Ginny will be moving permanently to Ocean City and will be missed. We wish them health and happiness.
Karen Merriell
Kemble Church sends sincere thanks to Karen Merriell for her long-standing service as Director of Christian Education. She has also resigned her position as director of Parent’s Time Out, which she founded 14 years ago. The preschool has been a very successful venture since its beginning. It will take many volunteers to cover the various jobs Karen performed as Director of Christian Education. We miss you Karen and blessings in your new endeavor.
