40 gifts for 40 years of blessing
2010 is here! It’s been 40 years since John Wesley UMC came into being. What an amazing 40 years of growth and blessing it has been for all of us! It’s time to start our year of “40 for 40”. What gift can you give in celebration of this milestone? Remember: 40 “somethings” (items, dollars, hours) given to the community in gratitude for 40 years of blessing.
Photos and notes about your project can be posted on the large bulletin board in the Narthex. Have you checked out what’s already there? So far 40 boxes of macaroni and cheese and 40 boxes of corn muffin mix have been donated to the SOUL Food Pantry. 40 pairs of socks have been given to One Way Farm. 40 cases of water were donated to Haiti. And we’ve just begun!
Happy anniversary, John Wesley!
Round Robin Dinner Club
If you enjoy good food and sharing time with friends (and making new friends!), here’s an exciting opportunity for you: The John Wesley Round Robin Dinner Club is being organized and will begin in January 2010. Small groups of people meet and everyone brings a dish to share—fun and fellowship follow! Your group can meet for lunch, brunch, or dinner...or go out to a restaurant... whatever the group decides.
We’ve had many join, but there’s still room for you. Just sign up on the list in Fellow- ship Hall, email Sandy Caruso at sandyc@zoomtown.com, or call Sandy at 851-7687. We’re looking forward to getting to know YOU!
JWUMC Student Ministry...connecting
Sunday Nite JAM is held from 5:00-6:30 P.M. with Middle School in Wesley Hall and High School in the Youth Room. Food will be provided every week.
We have a new ministry called Fridays Cafe. This will be held on one Friday every month in the Fellowship Hall from 7:00-11:00 P.M. We will have games, music, karaoke and a cafe serving food that cost $1.00 or less. This is for all students in the church. It will give them a place to connect with each other that is safe.
Electronic Messenger...save paper and postage
You can now request email notification of the online version of our monthly newsletter, The Messenger on the John Wesley website. You will get all the news first when you receive notice the next Messenger is available online and can print your own copy or just sections, like registrations for events, or special announcements to hang on your refrigerator. In choosing this option, you will not be mailed a paper copy of The Messenger. If this works best for you and your family, please email the church office at christie@jwumc.com and you will receive notification each month. Paper copies will still be mailed to all who do not sign up for this option.

In 2008, John Wesley Early Learning Center was named a Step Up To Quality Program by the State of Ohio. Only the top preschool and child care programs in Ohio receive this prestigious award.
John Wesley ELC received this award because of their overall commitment to quality and excellent early care and education program. They offer a wonderful environment for children to grow and develop, and it is an honor to receive state recognition for their efforts. Among the special quality features that helped them win this award are the following:
• More teachers per child – this allows a teacher to spend more time with each child.
• More qualified teachers – more training in early childhood development.
• A commitment to early learning and Ohio’s Early Learning Content Standards.
• An outstanding work environment – paid staff benefits mean staff is treated professionally, which goes a long way in retaining good teachers for the children.
Our goal is to build each child’s self-confidence, develop their social and emotional skills and instill a love for learning that will follow them the rest of their life. John Wesley ELC is extremely pleased to have won this award. We tell our children to reach for the stars. Today we feel like they are in our grasp. Click here to learn more...
