At Junction City United Methodist Church, we gather to work on our faith so
that it matters...
...and together we...
1)
...are growing relationships with God, based on unconditional love,
nurtured through the life
and teachings of Jesus.
2)
...recognize that other faithful people have other names for the way to God and
we acknowledge that these ways are true for them as our way is true for us.
3)
...understand the sharing of the bread and the cup in Jesus' name as an ancient
ritual, open to all people, celebrating the life of Jesus and the Kingdom of
God.
4)
...welcome all people to participate in our church community and worship life
without insisting they become just like us in order to be accepted. This
includes (but is not limited to) believers and agnostics, conventional &
unconventional Christians, questioning skeptics, women & men, those of all
sexual orientations & gender identities, all races and cultures, all classes
and abilities, those who hope for a better world and those who have lost
hope.
5)
...know that the fullest expression of what we believe about God is revealed in
how we behave toward ourselves and others.
6)
...are on a faith journey grounded in questions and the search for understanding
rather than in certain and absolute answers.
7)
...participate in this church community dedicated to supporting one another in
the work we feel called to do in Christ's name: striving for peace &
justice among all people, protecting, sustaining and repairing our planet,
bringing hope to those who struggle.
8)
...recognize that we carry responsibilities that extend from our places of
privilege.
9)
...believe that following Jesus is often difficult, entailing unselfish love
& conscientious resistance to evil.
