GRIEF RECOVERY:
"Finding the Light in the Valley of Death"
This is a seven day/evening workshop to help people who are
experiencing, have experienced, or will experience grief from one source or
another be it death, disease, divorce, disillusionment, or dissolution of one's
job.
Participants learn about the stages of grief and are helped to deal with
their feelings and emotions, and with coping with the present and future.
Spiritual resources and practical means to recovery are shared and discussed by
both leader and participants in open forum and small breakout groups.
Churches will draw participants from their own congregation, but may want to
open this series to the community as an outreach ministry, and also encourage
Funeral directors to recommend this ministry to their clients.
PASTORAL CARE TRAINING FOR THE LAITY:
A Parish Ministry to the Sick and Shut-in
This program is intended to lead to the establishment of an ongoing ministry
in the local church to supplement the pastor's/staff's visitation ministry.
Laity, chosen by their pastor will participate in seven weeks of training to
become parish visitors. This is also a first step in organizing a laity led
Christian Counseling ministry.
A biblical model for pastoral care will be offered within the context of
weekly Bible study, operative lecture, role play and practicum. The laity will
be expected to begin visiting after the second session so that concrete sharing
may take place. Hospital personnel can also greatly benefit from this training.
THE SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINES:
Formation, Celebration, and Actualization
Seminars or retreats on the spiritual disciplines can be tailored to meet
your group's needs. Each of the disciplines can be handled one at a time over a
series of sessions, or grouped together in one or a series of retreats. Not all
the disciplines could be covered in any depth via a day long or weekend retreat,
but such a format can be useful as an introductory tool.
The spiritual disciplines are a means of grace to help believers or seekers
to grow in faith, in their relationship with God and Christ, and to be in active
Christian service. They include such matters as prayer, mediation, fasting,
simplicity, journaling, silence and solitude, study, etc.
The teaching activities include lecture, experiential methods, and discussion
and sharing.
THE LANGUAGE OF GOD:
Understanding Your Dreams
God never stopped speaking to us through our dreams. It was the
"Enlightenment" that caused us to tune out God since we could not
scientifically prove that God spoke to us, let alone their was a God. This four
part study takes a biblical, historical and psychological look at dreams using
bible study and video presentations, as well as teaching dream journaling and
interpretation for the individual by the individual. This is not a New Age
gimmick, but an authentic Christian practice older than our Bible.
AN INTRODUCTORY STUDY ON CHRISTIAN
HEALING:
Faith and Wholeness
This seven week series is a study on Christian healing. Participants will
examine the relationship between body, mind, and spirit, and will learn that
when there is a breakdown in one ill health results. Bible study is incorporated
as we learn how we might achieve health and wholeness as a lifelong process
through our relationship with the great physician, Jesus Christ.
