United Methodist Women

United Methodist Women (UMW) is a community of women who nurture and encourage one another in their spiritual growth, personal leadership and transformation. As a member, you accept the challenge to expand concepts of mission.

Our PURPOSE

The organized unit of UNITED METHODIST WOMEN shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God, and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

Why Become a Member?

Why become a United Methodist Woman? United Methodist Women is a national membership organization with nearly one-million members whose purpose is to foster spiritual growth, develop leaders and advocate for justice!  Members raise approximately $20 million a year for programs and projects related to women, children and youth in the United States and in more than 100 countries around the world! A woman does not have to be a member of our church to be a member of our UMW unit.

The United Methodist Women at John Wesley are consistently a "Five Star" unit, including fully supporting all of their mission pledges. They are also active in the Long Island West district and the New York Annual Conference, including the Conference UMW Annual Weeting and the Cooperative School of Christian Mission. Their work includes regularly preparing relief supplies which are collected at the Annual Conference session in June.

Locally, the UMW unit also has a monthly meeting & Bible Study, a Christmas fellowship party in December, and an Annual Worship Service in September. The United Methodist Women meet on the second Saturday of every month at 12:30 PM.
