Our Pastor

Rev. Pauline Wardell-Sankoh, Pastor

Rev. Wardell-Sankoh is a native of Lewiston, North Carolina. She moved to New York City at the age of seven.  All her schooling, except seventh and eight grades which she did in North Carolina, was received in the New York City Public and undergraduate system. She graduated with honors from Drew Theological School in 1997.

From 1997 to 2000, she served as pastor of The United Methodist Church of the Good Shepherd in West Hempstead, NY and South Floral Park United Methodist Church, South Floral Park, NY of the Long Island East District.

Since July 2000, she has served as pastor here at John Wesley. Her ministry in our church includes pre-marital counseling, baptismal counseling, bereavement counseling, family counseling and referral services, as well providing spiritual and administrative leadership, resources and support to the ministries of this church, as well as mentoring and training several candidates for the ordained ministry.

God has done great things for her and continues to work in miraculous ways to bring about His glory in her life. She believes that God's most wondrous works in her life have been her son, Bryan Edward Wardell, Esq., a gift from God, who works as a lawyer in Raleigh, N.C; His wife Lechelle, a Public Health Administrator for Wake County; and their son, Brandon, who is her pride and joy.

To God be the glory for the great things he has done. Rev. Wardell-Sankoh wishes to be known as a servant of God, a loving mother, mother-in-law and grandmother, and one called to make disciples for Christ through example, preaching, teaching and most of all, through the ministry of love.
