Methodist Women
There are 3 different circles which offer a variation of times to choose among. These circles are Susannah's Hope Circle which meets at 9:30 a.m. on the second Tuesday of each month; Grace Davis-Myrta Moody Circle which meets at 7:00 p.m. also on the second Tuesday of each month; and Sisters in Faith Circle which meets at 9:00 a.m. on the first Sunday of each month. If you would like more information, please call the church or Sharyn Warfel, President of the UMW. Please Join!!!
The 3 Circle groups will resume their regular monthly meetings in Sept. Anyone wanting to join is welcome.
The United Methodist Women will be providing back packs for the chilren at the United Methodist Children's Home in Worthington, Ohio. When these children enter the home, they are carrying all they have in a plastic grocery bag. This is also what they use to carry their books to school or clothing if they go on a vist.
The Home has an average of 30 children, ages 10 to 18 years. In 2004 there were 106 children in foster care while 15 were adopted.
The UMW would like to provide 30 backpacks for those in the Home. Each backpack costs $15. We hope to deliver them by August 1st so they can use them at the start of the new school year.
We also hope to provide duffle bags to the children in the near future.
If you care to contribue, please give your donation to Carol Hostetter or Isabel Cheney by August 1. Mark your checks "Children's Home" or "backpacks" in the memo line.
Organization
The United Methodist Women's group is organized into three circles. The Faith-Hope/Susannah Wesley Circle has morning meetings while the Grace Davis Myrta Moody Circle holds evening meetings. On March 3rd, 2002, nine young women met in an upstairs Sunday school room to organize a new circle for younger women. This circle was named Sisters in Faith. The group also holds General Society UMW meetings in May, June, October and December.
Activities
The UMW sponsors bake sales, sells replicas of local buildings and holds and annual rummage sale every fall as money making projects. They use this money to contribute to the local church budget, help in the maintenance of the parsonage and church buildings, assist with campers' fees, clean the choir robes, contribute to charitable groups and missionary projects and donate to the new church addition fund.
