Mission Statement"It is the mission of our church to bring God to people and people to God" Vision StatementThe Vision Statement of the Johnson First United Methodist Church comes from three directions: First of all it comes from looking at our heritage and sinking our roots deeply in it. Our vision comes first and foremost by being fed from the Word of God. We believe that through the record of God's work in the past His help becomes present in the here and now. Our vision comes by knowing how God has worked in the past and continues to work in the present. Our vision is based on the witnesses here in this community, those who have gone before us and are present now. We are "surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses" who, by their faith in God's power, established this church in this community. It is through their vision that we are able to have a vision today. Second, our vision comes from God working within us. Whatever vision we do have comes first from God. Today we look at His will and His power to give us the direction we should go. The bedrock of our vision is God's spirit working in us. He gives us the ability to see. After looking back at our heritage and finding God's Spirit working with us, we then look outward. It is our vision as a church to become more and more God's instrument in this place. We strive to have a ministry that will draw people of all ages and stations to it. The focus point of our vision is that if "Christ be lifted up" he truly will draw all persons to him. This is our ministry of reconciliation. It is out vision to be the kind of Christian fellowship where children, youth, young adults, middle age, and the elderly may find food for their souls. Service Times
