The mission statement of Johnston Federated United Methodist Church is to recognize and accept the Lordship of Jesus Christ in our lives and also in the life of our congregation.

We believe that Scripture is inerrant in its original manuscripts, and our guide for life.

We believe that Jesus is the Son of God, born to redeem humanity from sin, both original and life-related; that He is the second part of the Trinity, and holds all Creation together with His Word, born of a virgin, crucified on a Roman cross for our sins, resurrected on the third day, and soon to return to this earth to establish God's Kingdom as revealed in the book of Revelation.

We believe in the indwelling of the Holy Spirit as our helper, bringing spiritual gifts to be used for the glory of God the Father.

We believe that John Wesley, in his sermons, notes and writings envisioned a powerful and scripturally accurate road to a life of piety, service and faith in God, which became known as the Methodist church, of which we are a part.

We take the injunction of Psalm 122:6 to heart to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. We are privileged to have adopted, as brothers and sisters, the people of Itamar, a community in Shomron (Samaria) of dedicated Jews who are working to help re-establish God's people in the Land. We support their efforts with prayer, letters, e-mail, and financial collections.

The sanctuary section of our present church building was originally constructed in 1899.
