November 17, 2008

Dear Christian Sisters,

I would like to take the time to thank each and every one of you for your continued support and devotion to the ministry of the Jetmore United Methodist Women.  I cannot begin to tell each of you personally how your prayers, service and pledges have meant to various women and families throughout our community.  What an awesome year 2008-2009 has already been.  Through your generous support I have already been witness to the testimonies of two of our very own local women of how much our ministry has meant to them.  And ladies, this is only the spoken testimonies.  We may never know the full effect of our ministry but, the one thing I am sure of is, that whatever we do will be more than doubled in rewards.

I am pleased to say that we are in the process of contributing to meeting the needs for seven other families in our community as well as supporting other various missions.  We have mailed out ten graduate care packages filled with goodies for our college students.  I would also like to thank those of you that donated coats.  We have sorted and distributed the children’s coats to our local elementary school.  Once all children here in our community are taken care of the remainder will be taken to Evangelica Church in Garden City.  We have already distributed all the adult size coats to Evangelica.

The theme at our pledge supper was “Changing Seasons, Changing Lives one Mission at a Time”.  Recently I have been thinking about this theme and the concept of change.  Change hum…. What does change mean to me?  Change is something that is different from what was before.  Are there things in my life that I want to change?  Yes there is.  I want to change the level of my relationship with God.  I want more, I want to go deeper.  I want greater faith.  I want stronger courage.  I want to not sin.  But how I ask myself?  How can I possibly not sin?  Isn’t sin in our human nature?  Hum… human nature.  I can’t change!  I cannot prevent myself from sinning.  I can cover up my sin.  I can blame my sin on others.  In the long run though my sin is still mine and I’ve not changed.  So, how can I change?  God can change me.  God can uncover my sin and through his supernatural power he can begin to change that which I desire.  To change me from the inside out and the change will begin with the transforming of my heart and mind.  When I begin to uncover my sin and ask for God’s supernatural power to change my life through confession, God covers my sin with the blood of Jesus.  The more I uncover the more God covers and the more God can use me and the more willing I will be to obey.

So as I proceed through this last journey of being the UMW president I will be praying for a supernatural change to take place not only in my own life but also in the lives of the women that I have grown to love and care deeply for.  As always, may God richly bless your life.

Your Sister in Christ,
Sheryl MacNair

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.  Romans 12:2
