Administrative Board Meeting

November 18, 2001

The meeting was called to order at 12:20 p.m. with prayer by Melba Fisher

Attendance: Melba Fischer, Joan Jones, Mary Falconburg, Lynn Correll, Scott McClure, Jane Nellis, Claire McClure, Quentin Kimbrow, Mary Childers, Greg Emerson, Faye Emerson, Maxine Palmer.

Agenda Items:

  1. Treasure’s Report:
  2. Mary Childers reported that there is a checking account balance of $5,958.67. This is prior to the offering for 11/18/01 of $1168.88. Designated funds are 4,789.79 of the totals above.

    Mary reported that 100% of the insurance apportionment has been paid and 38% of the other apportionments.

  3. PPR Committee:
  4. Quinton reported that he had discussed his work schedule and hours with the committee. He has averaged 9 hours a day on work ranging from boiler maintenance to grief counseling.

  5. United Methodist Men:
  6. Scott McClure reported on the November breakfast in which a speaker from CSI discussed the Islam religeon. The turnout for the event was very good and the men are planning on having 3-4more such events in the next year.

  7. Congregational Care:
  8. Maxine Palmer reported that Thanksgiving and Christmas cards will be sent to the shutins of the congregation.

    Student Recognition Sunday will be held December 30th. Jason Hompland will be home from College and Jack Hompland is a Senior. Sarah Stadelman attended a Youth Christian Retreat and Craig Tomason has finished his God and Country award for Scouts and is working on his Eagle Scout. These are some of the youth that will be honored that Sunday.

    There will a Souper Bowl Sunday in January.

    Quinton expressed his appreciation for the Spud Bar and Appreciation Sunday.

  9. Education Committee
  10. In Teena McCandless’ absence, Maxine Palmer reported that the youth Christmas program will be held December 16th. The program will portray the Christmas story with parts played by youth and adults. The youth will also be involved in the "Hanging of the Greens" tradition during services on December 2nd.

     

     

  11. UMW:
  12. Joan Jones reported that Mary Falconburg has accepted the post of President of the UMW for 2002.

    The UMW Christmas Tea will be held Saturday. December 8th at 2:00 p.m.

  13. Minister’s Report:

Quinton described the Methodist Church’s new advertisement program. He stated that to be in concert with this program our congregation just needs to be an open, hospitable, responsive group. He plans to do short training sessions for groups within the congregation on the theme: "Open hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors".

Quinton reported that there will be a Christmas Caroling and Chili Feed on December 9th at 5:00 p.m. Bring finger foods to share with all.

Our church had the most people at our Charge Conference of any congregation in the Eastern district.

Quinton requested that information for the newsletter be given to him in time to make a November 26th mailing date.

  1. Finance Committee:

The Budget for 2002 was presented. We will need about $200.00 more per week in donations for us to meet this budget. After discussion the proposed budget was accepted as presented.
