Worship Time for Summer 10:00AM

Following an informal survey during worship, the Sunday schedule for worship is being moved from 11:00AM to 10:00AM for the Summer. The time change begins this Sunday, June 3rd. See you there!

The Parade of Boxes

The Parade of Boxes for Annual Conference includes "Sewing Kits." The members of the U.M.W. will be glad to put these together. The following items need to be donated for each kit:

3 yards of uncut cotton material

sewing scissors

package of needles

spool of thread

six matching buttons

If you can supply any of these items, we will collect them at the church and package them so that they can be taken to Annual Conference.

Progress on Church Remodeling Project

The Nursery is done! (Except for the furnishings. Please see the wish list contained inside this newsletter.) The new heating system is installed with programmable thermostats and the electrical improvements are complete. The downstairs rooms and hall have been repaired, textured and painted.

There are still a couple of tasks that remain to truly complete this project. The radiators in the Fellowship Hall will need to be disconnected and removed. A new condensate line will be installed. And some of the floor tiles in the Fellowship Hall and the Youth Room will need to be replaced.

In the last two years, the Trustees have made numerous improvements to the church and parsonage. The church has been completely painted inside, a new roof installed, and extensive work has been done on the heating system.

The interior of the parsonage has been painted; cabinets have been installed in the utility room and kitchen; new dishwasher and clothes washer have been installed.

Thanks to the Trustees for their leadership and service: Jim Fetterly, Carl Nellis, Joan Jones, Greg Emerson, Wayne Childers, Louise Lampman, Mary Falconburg, Jack Hyder, and Mary Hompland.

Birthday Party

The Congregational Care Committee will host the Annual Birthday Luncheon following worship on June 24th. The menu includes Pizza, cold vegetables and dip, french bread and, of course, birthday cakes and ice cream for dessert.

The tables will be set up for birthdays in January-February; March-April; May-June; July-August; September-October; and November-December. Everyone is invited to the party and are asked to sit at your birthday table to share lunch and visit with those who share your birthday month. There will be table favors and door prizes for those attending.

A free will donation will be asked with the proceeds being placed in the Pastor’s Discretionary Fund. (The Pastor’s Discretionary Fund is used for people in need in which the needs presented are not met by other local funding. A few examples include: prescription and non-prescription medications; car/tire repair; rent assistance; and utility assistance.)

Men’s Group Breakfast

The Men’s Group will meet this Sunday, June 3rd, at the church. Breakfast will be prepared by Betty Hyder.

Your Help is needed!

Joleen McCandless wants to call our attention to two important sign-up sheets in our parlor. The first is for hosting our fellowship time following Sunday Worship.

The second is the schedule for workers in our Spud Booth at the Jerome County Fair which will be held July 24-29, 2001. She is letting us know this so that we will be more intentional this year about our commitment to work together in this fund raising effort and also be more prepared and organized this year.

   A Very Special Birthday

Elsie Ashcraft celebrated her 100th birthday! She was born in Aurora, Missouri on April 20, 1901. When she was six months olds her parents brought her to Lurray, Kansas in a covered wagon. It took about three weeks to make the trip. They lived there until Elsie was 17 years old and then they moved to Matheson, Colorado where she met her future husband, Roy Ashcraft. They were married on December 20, 1919. The couple came to Idaho to live in 1933. Roy passed away on March 14, 1943. They had four children, Myrl, Francis, Opal, and Norma. Opal died at 7 months and Myrl died on May 5, 1998. Elsie loved to dance, play cards, and do lots of crafts. She now lives in Woodstone at 491 Caswell Avenue West in Twin Falls. Francis and Norma live in Twin Falls, also. By Lulu Ashcraft

Congratulations!

Chris Boutin and Jason Hompland who graduated from Jerome High School on Saturday, May 26th.

Ann Correll and Trent Munden who will be married on June 2nd in our sanctuary by The Reverends J. Quinton Kimbrow and Robert G. Stebe.
