Savior On A Cross

Lenten Study

A Bible study entitled “Savior on a Cross” is being offered during Lent. This seven-week study, led by Pastor Kathy, is being offered at two different times, so choose the time that is most convenient.

During the day:

Tuesday afternoons at 1:30 at the Willows from February 8th through March 22nd.

In the evening:

Thursday February 10th at 7:30 (due to Ash Wednesday service on the 9th.) and then Wednesday evenings at 7:30 from February 16th through March 23rd at the Stuart-Mt. Vernon church.

Making Love Last a Lifetime: Biblical Perspectives on Love, Marriage and Sex

This is a study for both singles and couples that explores such topics as:

• Venus and Mars in the Beginning
• What Women Wish Men Knew About Women
• What Men Wish Women Knew About Men
• After the Honeymoon Is Over
• The Habits of Unhealthy Marriages
• God’s Plan for Sexual Intimacy
• The Ministry and Meaning of Faithfulness
• Making Love Last A Lifetime

Do the Sunday morning Scripture readings ever leave you puzzled?

Does it irk you when a passage starts out After that or Later?

Do you sometimes feel like the readings end abruptly? Do you want to know the rest of the story?

If so, you'll want to become part of the Lectionary Bible Study that meets every Tuesday morning at 8:00 a.m. at Stuart-Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church. This informal study starts with the Scripture readings for the following Sunday and goes in whatever direction the Spirit leads. To increase our understanding, we often:

• back up a chapter to discover the context of a lesson
• compare the same passage in several different translations
• look up references cited in footnotes
• consider the natural, historical or political environment
• share personal experiences
• laugh!

and always, offer prayers of gratitude for the blessed wisdom contained in the Bible and prayers of supplication for God's continuing mercy and guidance.
