


Jasper First United
Methodist Church is located in Hamilton County (North Florida).
Hamilton County is the Gateway to Florida on I-75. Hamilton County is a
peninsula within the peninsula of Florida, as Hamilton County is bordered
by the State of Georgia on the north, the historic Suwannee River on the
east and south and the Withlacoochee River on the west.
The church is about
5 miles East of I-75 taking either 129 or S.R. 6, and located on
the corner of 5th St. S.W. and Central Avenue in the city of Jasper.
The church was built in 1878, and is listed in the National Historical
Register. People from all over the country come to see this beautiful
church in its small town setting, and you too are welcome.
According to Methodist Conference History (South Carolina 1821-1830, Georgia-Florida 1830-1845, Florida 1845-1995) Missionaries were sent into Hamilton County around 1821. The First United Methodist Church was established around 1827. The exact year is unclear, for all records were destroyed by a fire in 1839.
