Warm Up America! was created by Evie Rosen, A well-known knitting teacher
and designer who for over 30 years ran a yarn shop in Wausau, WI. Frustrated
with the plight of the homeless, Evie started knitting afghans and giving them
away to people in. She soon realized she'd have to mobilize an army of
knitters and crocheters if she was ever going to accomplish her goal of provid-
ing a warm blanket to anyone who needed one. Well, that's what she did. she
asked her customers and members of a professional women's organization to
which she belonged to help and it's been growing ever since. When she was
overwhelmed by individual knitter and crocheted sections and afghans, Evie
asked the Craft Yarn Council for assistance. Today under their sponsorship,
there are groups in neighborhoods,families(children working with moms and grandparents), and professional organizations working in homes,church
basements,classrooms and boardrooms to Warm Up America!
