to our cemetery, so some listings may not appear as of today’s date. The Land where the Church and Cemetery are presently
located was once called Hickory Hill.
It was later changed to James Chapel when the Church was moved to this
location in 1895. The first burial in
this cemetery was John Ballard in Feb 1891.
John Ballard was buried on Hickory Hill due to Blood River being flooded
at the time and they could not cross the river to bury him at Bethlehem Baptist
Church Cemetery in Albany Louisiana. Row A is the row located at the rear fence of the cemetery
and starts in the left hand corner as you are facing the cemetery from the
