Baptism: Beginning the Faith Journey

Baptism is a sacrament, a holy symbol of our life-long relationship with Jesus Christ. It is a special celebration of the faith of the Church - far more than a naming ceremony or a family occasion or tradition. In baptism, a person is declared to be a child of God, a follower of Jesus Christ and a member of the Church (all Christians everywhere). Baptism marks the beginning of a spiritual union with Jesus Christ and with other Christians regardless of the age at which one is baptized.
