Mission Statement

The Irvington United Methodist Church seeks to glorify God and enhance the celebration of worship by preparing us to receive the message, uplifting our spirits and strengthening us for daily life. Active involvement in the ministry of music provides participants with the opportunity to serve the church with their talents, develop skills and achieve higher levels of spiritual awareness.

In addition to presenting quality work to the church and community on a regular basis, the IUMC Music Ministry reaches out to others through a number of various ensembles that provide music and entertainment for special events.

Irvington Artists Concert Series

Upcoming Concerts

Throughout the centuries, churches have been a center for music and arts. The greatest thoughts and expressions of humankind have been communicated through this medium. We hope that you will be able to attend one or all of the concert series and join us as we reflect on the very nature of God, the presence of the Divine Being within all life and share the gifts and talents God has given us.

Would you like to be a supporting friend to the Irvington Artist Concerts Series? For as little as $25 you can become a patron of the arts. There is an annual reception for donors and friends held at the Historic Benton House. The late summer event features music and hors d' oeuvres are served. For more information on becoming a Supporter, Donor, Sponsor or Benefactor, please contact the church office, (317) 356-7231 or send email expressing your interest. Your generous donation is tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.

If you wish more information concerning IACS, please email us or contact the church office to leave a message for Chairperson, Susan Palmer Bowers or Artistic Director, W. Mark McCreary.

Wagner Bells

These delightful handbells (and their ringers, of course) provide music for worship services and special events, weddings, accompany the choir, participate in festivals and perform throughout the city as an outreach ministry.

Persons interested in ringing are placed in appropriate choirs depending on previous ringing experience and music reading ability.

The adult Wagner Bells group rehearses on Thursdays at 6:00PM and there is the separate Charles Wesley Ringers for our youth. The Festival Ringers have auditions as needed and their rehearsals vary. The beginners can participate in the Handbell Workshops.
