A Special Gift: The Endowment Fund

If you want to give back to God some of what God has given you, and if you desire to strengthen the ministry of Irvington United Methodist Church, you may wish to make a special gift to one of the Endowment Funds.

A gift to an Endowment Fund continues to give in perpetuity. Your gift would be added to the Endowment Fund which is invested with the South Indiana Foundation of the United Methodist Church, Inc.

Distributions from the income of the Endowment Fund support special programs and needs in expanding ministries and programs within IUMC, growing ministries beyond IUMC, and maintaining church property and facilities.

The Bill Hill Preschool Endowment Fund

This fund was established by gifts in memory of Bill Hill, who was a member of the Preschool Board of Directors. All distributions from this fund will be used to provide scholarships to the IUMC preschool.

The Music Endowment Fund

This fund was established by gifts. Income from this fund is used to expand IUMC's music program.

Memorial Donations

For many years, the Memorial Fund has given persons the chance to remember a friend or loved one with a special gift.  Donors and/or families of those memorialized may make suggestions as to how they would like to see these funds used. However, if the gift is not designated, the gift is placed into the IUMC Endowment Fund. Annual distributions of a portion of the interest from that fund are spent on non-budgeted items and programs to carry out the mission of the church and for special ministries. Memorial Fund donor cards are available in the church office and at the funeral homes in the area.

What Gifts Can We Bring?

• Cash or checks
• Assets such as publicly traded stocks or other marketable securities
• Charitable Gift Annuities or Life Insurance
• Bequest in you Will or Living Trust

Gifts such as these show your final commitment, making a lasting statement and witness as to God's goodness and grace in your life. Include the church in your estate plan. You can name a specific dollar amount, or a percentage of your estate or specific asset, annuity, or life insurance proceeds.

In 2007 the various funds made the following distributions possible:

• Church Endowment Fund
  • Total Disbursement $19,238.00 of this amount,
  • $12,825 went to the Chuch Council
  • $6,412 went to the Church Trustees
• Music Endowment Fund
  • Total Disbursement $1,326.00
• Bill Hill Preschool Endowment Fund
  • Total Disbursement $464.00
