Well, a warm hello to everyone reading this. I would be amiss to not recognize what a privilege it has been in being a part of the Indian Heights community. Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of you, to live together in worship, prayer, play, and community. I have learned a lot and am sure I have a lot more to learn. I am looking forward to getting to know you more.
Reminiscing over the past year some highlights pop to mind. The Rescue Mission service night, for one, the Colorado trip, youth group Sundays, who can forget sardines in the dark, or laser tag, the talent night, walking the labyrinth, Sunday School, pizza, ping pong, Manor Care, Guatemala, eating sugar packets, the auction, ice cream, prayer, … what else comes to your mind?
It has been good. There have been times shared. I am looking forward to the year ahead.
Indian Height’s
current mission statement is:
“The people of Indian Heights, a caring community of faith, are
called by God to glorify God and to do God’s will, to spread the
Good news of Jesus Christ, and to provide opportunities for each individual
to grow in faith.”
I’ve asked myself, “what is the youth group’s role in
fulfilling that commission?” We are called to be a caring community,
to glorify God, spread the good news, and grow in faith together. May
this be our prayer. May our upcoming year be characterized by seeking
after this goal. May the God of life breathe His color into these aspirations
and lead us further, for His name’s sake.
For my part, I would like to become a better leader, to grow in relationship with you all, and become a better follower of Christ. At the end of the day, when all is said and done, may we love Him more and love each other. Christian community is so important to this call. May His presence be embraced among us.
So let’s follow God and continue to build on the foundation that is ours in Christ. Let’s continue to build on the community that is here at Indian Heights. Let’s continue to care for those around us. Let’s worship God with new vigor. Let’s turn our attention to witnessing for Him and bringing our friends to know Christ. Let’s grow in faith together. Youth, let us cease today and be open to His leading. By His strength, may He accomplish in us His will and may we follow His way.
Thanks for the opportunity to be one of you. God is great. May we grow together in seeking and serving Him. He is the Risen Lord!
