Again this year, we did not have a standing Committee. Thanks to Bill and Carol Fischer for heading the Cross-Lines Food Pantry; Marian Reeves for heading the Soup Kitchen; Chuck and Marian Reeves for heading the Garden; Jerry Muth for heading Habitat; Betsy Olsen and Twadie Forester for heading the Cross-Lines Christmas Store.
Our monetary contributions were limited this year because we have not fully paid our Conference Askings.
We held two Habitat work days and one Harvester work day. We will again sponsor the Clothing Department for the Cross-Lines Christmas Store.
Our Garden, again, provided fresh vegetables for Kansas City soup kitchens. We joined Leawood United Methodist and Leawood Presbyterian churches in providing food and servers at the Wilhamena Gill Center in KCK for three different times. Thanks to I’Della and Marvin Vogel for their gift to support this work. Thanks to Scott Vogel for his company’s donation of the food for the third meal. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped in the Garden and who provided food and their time to serve at the Soup Kitchen.
Thanks to all who helped with the monthly worship service at the Manor Care Nursing home.
In 2003 we will be asking for donations of money (off budget) and time to support Cross-Lines emergency requests, Habitat, Harvesters, Cross-Lines Christmas Store, Cross-Lines Food Pantry, Pastor’s Discretionary Fund, Meals on Wheels, Project Equality, Manor Care Nursing Home worship services, the Garden, and Youth Work Trips.
