| Nurturing
Committee -2004
The purpose, and vision, of the Nurturing Committee is to help meet the needs of the membership of Indian Heights United Methodist Church. Our prayer chain is a group of members who relay specific prayer requests from our congregation and include those concerns in their daily prayers. The Sunshine committee sends cards to members to extend our sympathy and get well wishes. Dial-A-Meal provides meals prepared by our congregation to families in need due to surgery, illness, bereavement or new babies. The Nurturing Committee sponsors the bridge group, twenty couples who meet monthly from October to April for fellowship and bridge. Dinner for Eight is a group of members who break into smaller groups to enjoy each other’s company and a meal once a month. Fellowship after both services is provided with a coffee and punch time. In cooperation with the Worship Committee, we have begun audio taping the services for members who cannot be present. Request cards have been placed in the sanctuary for those who wish to receive an audio tape of the service. A group of volunteers is available to provide rides to and from church for members. Through the use of church attendance reports, we hope to keep abreast of absentee members. If a member has missed church services for a few weeks we want to contact them by phone or note to let them know they are missed and to see if we can do anything for them. It is our intent, of course, to nurture our existing members, to welcome our new members and to meet the individual needs of our membership as our church grows.
