Education Committee

The Education Committee facilitated the following opportunities for study, growth and fellowship, opportunities for each person to grow in the Christian faith.

Listed chronologically:

1. “Keeping Watch: Living Faithfully,” a panel discussion on threats of terrorism led by
Dr. John Doull and a group of experts in various fields. Forty adults attended for the presentation and question and answer time. (January, 2002)

2. Easter Celebration: Ten children and their parents attended a celebration which included a mission project for the Johnson County homeless shelter in Olathe (Lynn Haffner), various Easter crafts, Easter egg hunt, and refreshments. (March) Kathy Kosednar.

3. Vacation Bible School, “God’s Great Gallery,” June 23-27, 6:00-8:20 p.m. The theme each evening was based on a story from the Bible. The stories were developed through music, drama, crafts, mission projects for Safe Home, recreation and refreshments. Forty-five children were enrolled. A great staff led by Sheri Hooper helped to make this a special week.

4. Sunday School for all ages throughout the entire year.

a. Nursery class - ages 2-3
b. Godly Play - 4 years to First grade

e. Junior/Senior High School
f. Two Adult classes

Bible Study (working through the New Testament)

Table Talk (discussion based on videos or books which address questions of faith and social issues)

5. Advent Celebration: Christmas craft, pot luck dinner, caroling and Christmas program by the youth group. Baby gifts for Jesus will be taken to the Cross-Lines Christmas store (November 24) I’Della Vogel.

6. A cash Mission gift to the well project at a Methodist orphanage in Guatemala.
