During 2002 the Archives Committee continued to gather and file records of Indian Heights United Methodist Church activities and business.

Photos, photocopies, snapshots, and slides, previously in envelopes or boxes, have been put in Archival sleeves and Archival boxes, numbered and indexed. A list of every person who has ever been a member has been put on a computer disk and filed for easy additions in the future. A hard copy was printed alphabetically for easier reference.

We have interviewed all living Past Pastors and placed a summary of these interviews in the Archives. An article about the two deceased Pastors in included, using obituaries and other articles plus a phone interview with Rev. Patterson’s daughter.

Two members attended a Convocation of Archivists at the Oklahoma City University sponsored by the South Central Jurisdiction, United Methodist Church. This meeting was both instructional and inspirational giving us ideas to better our local Archives.

One outgrowth of this meeting has been an “Archives Corner” in the Touch newsletter to keep the members informed of our activities and encourage further contributions of historical material.

Barbara Longwell has agreed to become a member of the Committee. She brings new ideas and enthusiasm as well as another pair of willing hands.

One of the things we learned at the Convocation is that since color photographs fade it is advisable to have black and white negatives and copies made of pictures that cannot be replaced. That has been accomplished for our Past Pastors pictures that hang in the hall.

Funds for most of these projects have been donated by the Memorial/Endowment Committee for which we are grateful.
