Welcome, welcome, welcome! At Immanuel we say there are no visitors, just family members we haven't met yet.   All are welcome.   The sanctuary of the church is handicap accessible.   We have a handicap ramp and handicap accessible bathrooms.   The ramp is located on the Cherry Street side of the church.   Come, worship and join us for refreshments and fellowship after church.

The mission of the Immanuel United Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus the Christ by boldly proclaiming Christ to the world.   We do this by sharing this good news with all people. This is our response to the love of God through the revelation of Jesus the Christ.

Ingathering Sunday November 22nd

As you know, unemployment is high and so is the demand at our food pantry. While hunger is a year round problem, at Immanuel we take this Sunday to remind ourselves of the need to share throughout the year. In a nod to being more ecologically friendly, we ask that you bring your non perishable items in your own recycled bag.

Immanuel has another lay speaker

What is a lay speaker? A lay speaker is a professing member of a local church who is ready and desirous to serve the Church, and who is well informed on and committed to the Scriptures and the doctrine, heritage, organization, and life of The United Methodist Church. A lay speaker has completed the required training courses in lay speaking and has been approved by a district or annual conference committee on lay speaking. Lay speakers serve the local church by witnessing to the Christian faith through spoken communication, church and community leadership, and caregiving ministries.

Dick Crowley recently completed his lay speaker basic training course. Dick had been active in the church for many years. He has been a vital part of the Alpha Course here at Immanuel. We wish him much success in his spiritual journey.

Alpha Course started October 1st!

The course has been going well so far.   Participation has been good.   It is a little late to start, but maybe not too late!

The Alpha course is a ten week introduction to the Christian faith.   It gives people an opportunity to explore important life questions, for example, what is the meaning of life?   Is there more to life than what I am experiencing now?   Participants in the Alpha course learn how Christians answer these and other questions as they gather together to share meals, hear talks and discuss their thoughts.

The Alpha course is facilitated by people from the local community.   It is based upon a course that has been used successfully all over the world and amongst diverse Christian denominations and in diverse settings; people’s homes, schools, prisons and military bases.

Alpha is a good place to bring a friend or neighbor who you would like to share the Gospel, but have not found the right opportunity.   Alpha is a good place to refer anyone who is looking for answers but may not be ready to explore them within a traditional church context.

The course is open to anyone who would like to participate.   There is no fee to participate.   You are encouraged but not obligated to attend all ten sessions.   The introductory Alpha program at Immanuel will start Thursday evening starting October 1st, at 6:30 p.m. in the Church Parlor.   For more information about Alpha, you can contact the Alpha web site: "http://www.alphausa.org".   If you are interested in participating in the Alpha course at Immanuel, please contact Dick Crowley at 781-894-4898.   You are welcome to join us!

Thanks for your visit!

As you may know, the Got Books program has brought a lot of visitors to Immanuel's website.   We appreciate your donations to a good cause.   If you live in the Waltham area, we invite you to worship with us on Sunday at 10 a.m..   All are welcome!
