Linda has been an ordained Elder of the Illinois Great Rivers Conference for several years. Currently, she is appointed as the Lead Staff Psychotherapist at the Center for Counseling and Pastoral Care in St. Louis. She helps children, adolescents and adults through the therapeutic process. Her specialization is long-term work individual work as it assists clergy, clergy families, and congregations. Additionally, she is dually appointed as chaplain to St. Louis Children's Hospital, completing her fourteenth year in chaplaincy in the BJC Health Care System. Before coming to her appointment at the hospital, Linda was pastor to several small churches in the former Southern Illinois Conference and holds a M.Div. from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary and a MSW from University of Missouri. She is a Board Certified Chaplain (BCC), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), and a Fellow in the American Association of Pastoral Counselors.

The Course of Study Pastoral Counseling and Spiritual Formation class is designed for direct application of learning pastoral counseling skills for the parish setting. Since most students preach in a church or two, much of the assignments are centered on pastoral preaching and prophetic ministry. The student's direct experience of the two modes of ministry is designed to develop one's empathetic listening skills and articulation of pastoral care and justice. There is a third layer of learning, as well. Several small writing assignments will be used for one's spiritual formation and personal action/reflection skills. Direct contact with the instructor is encouraged to help in preparation and expression of the assignments.
