You are welcome in our church family

"So we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members one of another." — Romans 12:5

If you are seeking a place to worship, find fellowship, grow in faith, or provide your children with Christian teaching, we welcome you in Christian love.

If you are already attending our church and would like to establish stronger connections within this community, or if you are new in Hyde Park, we hope you will make us aware of your needs, interests, and gifts. We'd like to welcome you and provide information on how joining small groups makes it easier to establish connections and experience Christian fellowship within a church.

Here are some ways to establish connections and find friends at Hyde Park United Methodist Church.

Talk with us.

If you would like to speak with a church member on our welcome team (also known as the Membership and Evangelism Commission), just give the church office a call at (845) 229-2114. The office is open on weekdays between 8:00 AM and 2 PM. You may also contact our administrative assistant by e-mail at hpumc@verizon.net
Our administrative assistant, pastor, and director of youth programs can recommend social, educational, and community service events at which you'll be able to interact with other church members. They can also put you in touch with a church member who will answer your questions and meet you at church events.

Worship with us.

Praising God together, praying for each other, and learning about God are important things that we do as a community. After worship, we gather in the Education Building next door for a fellowship time.
Childcare is provided during worship by a team of staff and volunteers. Separate nurseries for infants and toddlers and for older children are located in the Education Building.
Please be a part of our family on Sundays.

Directions to the church and further information on worship and Sunday School are available on this website.

Come to fellowship events.

Every 4-6 weeks during the school year, we meet for fun, singing, and education, often at fellowship dinners. Events such as our annual church birthday party, Golf Day, summer Renegades baseball games, worship and picnics at Linwood, the fall CROP Walk, special study and prayer groups, volunteer opportunities, and youth events allow different families and generations to get to know each other.
We are a flexible community trying to meet the needs of the church socially, spiritually, and educationally. New activities and opportunities to grow in faith and friendship are created all the time, so call the church office to find out what is being planned and how you can take part. Or, check this month's list of events.

A variety of topics for study are offered at our "Monday Night Lights" program, which run each Fall and Spring for about 8-10 weeks each.

Join a small group.

Being part of a small group of friends makes all the difference when you are new to a church. Some ways to find friends here are to join an adult Sunday School class, sing in a choir, volunteer with us in the community, or join a social group. A list of on-going activities and contact persons is provided below.

Youth Programs

"For you, O Lord, are my hope, my trust, O Lord, from my youth." — Psalm 71:5.

Education

"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. Keep these words that I am commanding to you today in your heart. Recite them to your children and talk about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you rise." — Deuteronomy 6:5-7

Prayer

"I call upon you, for you will answer me, O God; incline your ear to me, hear my words." — Psalm 17:6

Choirs

"Clap your hands, all you peoples; shout to God with loud songs of joy."
— Psalm 47:1
We have choirs for all ages:

Volunteer in the Community

"What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but do not have works? Can faith save you? If a brother or sister is naked and lacks daily food, and one of you says to them, 'Go in peace; keep warm and eat your fill,' and yet you do not supply their bodily needs, what is the good of that? So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead." — James 2:14-17

Support Groups

"Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer." — Romans 12:12

Social Groups and Activities

"Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers and sisters to dwell together in unity" — Psalm 133:1
