Listen
to your father, who gave you life, and do not despise your mother when
she is old.
-- Job 21:7, NIV Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying,
"Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said,
"Here am I. Send me!"
Let justice roll on like a river, righteousness
like a never-failing stream.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they
shall see God.
God saw all that He had made, and it was
very good.
"My prayer is not for them alone. I pray
also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of
them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they
also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me."
Therefore, I urge you brothers, in view
of God's mercy to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasuring
to God - this is your spiritual act of worship.
You have made known to me the paths of
life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.
And we know that in all things God works
for the good of those who love him.
After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them,
he was taken up into heaven and sat at the right hand of God. Then the
disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them
and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it.
"If my people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." -- 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV) Every day they continued to meet together
in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together
with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all
the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being
saved.
It is true! It is true! The Lord has risen
and appeared to Simon.
This is also why you pay taxes, for the
authorities are God's servants, who give their full time to governing.
Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue,
then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.
Why do you look for the living among the
dead? He is not here; He has risen!
"My kingdom is not of this world. If it
were my servents would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jews. But now
my kingdom is from another place. For this reason I was born and for this
I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of
the truth listens to me."
You call me 'Teacher' and 'Lord,' and rightly
so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have
washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet.
See, your king comes to you, gentle and
riding on a donkey.
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though
outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by
day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us and eternal
glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen,
but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen
is eternal.
The God who made the world and everything
in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built
by hands.
The water I give him will become in him
a spring of water, welling up to eternal life.
He saved us through the washing of rebirth
and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us generously through
Jesus Christ our Savior, so that having been justified by his grace, we
might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.
The name of the Lord is a strong tower;
the rightious run to it and are safe.
Because your love is better than life,
my lips will glorify you.
"Then you will call and the Lord will answer;
you will cry for help and He will say: Here am I"
"He has showed you, O man, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God."
"Are any among you sick? They shall call
for the elders of the church and have them pray over them..."
For he himself is our peace, who has made
the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility,
by abolishing in his flesh the law with its commandments and regulations.
His purpose was to create in himself one new man out of the two, thus making
peace, and in this one body to reconcile both of them to God through the
cross, by which he put to death their hostility.
Therefore go and make disciples of all
nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of
the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded
you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
"I see him, but not now; I behold him,
but not near. A star shall come out of Jacob, and a scepter shall rise
out of Israel."
And there were shepherds living out in
the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. Then an angel
of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them,
and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid;
for see--I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people: to
you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah,
the Lord. This will be a sign for you: you will find a child wrapped in
bands of cloth and lying in a manger.
God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth,
a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph,
a descendant of David. The virgin's name was Mary. The angel went to her
and said, "Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with
you."
May the God of hope fill you with all joy
and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may
abound in hope.
"For God made His light shine in our hearts
to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of
Christ. But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing
power is from God and not from us."
"He has scattered abroad his gifts to the
poor, his righteousness endures forever; his horn will be lifted high in
honor."
"Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth
be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it; let the fields be
jubilant, and everything in them. Then all the trees of the forest will
sing for joy, they will sing before the Lord, for he comes. . .to judge
the world in righteousness and the peoples in his truth."
We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each
of us has turned to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity
of us all.
