Bible Studies
A PLACE TO STUDY
A PLACE TO GROW
SHORT TERM STUDY OPPORTUNITIES AT HOPE
Advent and Lenten studies are offered at appropriate times
of the year. These studies usually begin the first Sunday of the
respective season. We normally have at least one Sunday School class
involved in this study, as well as some evening studies. There may
be a nominal fee for the cost of supplies.
We are always looking for substitute teachers as well as someone to come
forth to lead new and innovative study groups at Hope Church. If you are interested in opening your home or
leading a new study group, contact Sue McMillan-Gamber, Pastor Jim, or the
Church office for any help you may need.
The leadership of Hope UMC is convinced that the way to grow in your faith
journey is to become involved in a small Bible study group. Which group is right for
you? Talk to God; let the Spirit lead you.
LONG TERM STUDY OPPORTUNITIES OFFERED AT HOPE
The leadership at Hope church believes very strongly in small Bible Study
groups. Theses small groups not only give one the opportunity to draw closer to
God, but also provide an excellent way to come to know more of your church
family. Through these small groups you, Hope Church and God will all benefit
from your experience. Why not ask a family member or friend, a member or
non-member of Hope church, to join you in becoming involved with one of these
studies?
DISCIPLE STUDIES:
Hope church began offering these studies in 1992 and has not missed a year
since. Let’s continue the tradition. Disciple courses do not have teachers, but
have “facilitators” which allows for a lot of interaction and discussion. You
may involve yourself in these discussions as much as you wish.
The first study is called
DISCIPLE I:
“Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study”
and is the foundational course consisting of 34 weeks of study covering Genesis
to Revelation. Participants spend approximately 45 minutes per day in preparing
for the 2 ˝ hour weekly session. This course aims to transform, nor just inform.
It is suggested this course is completed before taking any of the other Disciple
studies.
