The United Methodist Mission Church of Honduras is made up of 12 congregations in five different areas of Honduras.  Each church is engaged in ministry with its community.  Click on the name of the church for a description of its ministries, for photos of the site, and for information on the congregation's leaders, and mission team information.

TEGUCIGALPA

There are three churches in the Tegucigalpa area. The Methodist church in SAN JOSE de la VEGA  serves a poor, centrally-located, urban neighborhood. This is one of the few churches that holds services and Sunday School in a rented house. The Methodist church in FUERZAS UNIDAS serves a marginal neighborhood of the urban poor on the outskirts of the city. The 12^th, and newest, Methodist congregation is in a community called CIUDAD ESPAÑA in the Amarateca Valley, northwest of Tegucigalpa. A new housing development built by the Red Cross of Spain after Hurricane Mitch in 1998, this church serves a community of people who had to relocate after the disaster. 

DANLI  AREA
DANLI CENTRAL is the name of the first Methodist church to form in Danlí, a town two hours east of Tegucigalpa. There are two congregations that were planted by the Danlí Central Methodist church, the churches of the rural villages of La Jagua and Escuapa.  LA JAGUA is a 45 minute drive from Danlí, and ESCUAPA is about another 20-30 minutes down the road from La Jagua.  Both villages are remote and poor, with many residents trying to survive on the local coffee harvest.  Escuapa is a community that needed to be relocated after the nearby river destroyed the original village during Hurricane Mitch. It held worship and Sunday school for years under a tree. The other Methodist church in the town of Danlí is in the neighborhood of LA COFRADÍA.  It is one of the largest Methodist congregations in Honduras. The La Cofradía Methodist Church planted the Methodist congregation in EL PARAÍSO, near the Nicaraguan border. 

TALANGA AREA

Talanga is a town one hour northeast of Tegucigalpa, and has two worshiping congregations of the Methodist Church. The congregation of TALANGA CENTRAL is located in town and holds worship in the rented house where the pastor lives.  The other congregation is located 5 minutes away, just outside of Talanga, in a neighborhood called 10 de SEPTIEMBRE.  Many homes were built with UMCOR funds donated after Hurricane Mitch in this poor community.
