Nursery News

On Sunday mornings our Nursery Attendant, Maureen, is available to take children 1st grade and under for an activity during the Worship Service.  Children are welcomed into the nursery after Pastor Krista's Moments with the Children.  If you have an infant, you may bring him or her to the nursery before worship begins.

Bowling Party Planned

The Sunday School would like to invite the whole church family to a "Bowling Party" at Timberlanes in Abington on Sunday June 6th after church.  Following the Worship Service will have pizza in the Fellowship Hall and leave for Timberlanes by 12:15 PM.  Experienced and novice bowlers are welcome!  We hope you can join us.  (If you are under 18, a permission slip is required.  See Pastor Krista for details.)

In preparation to the Annual Conference Session, there will be informational Budget Seminars held throughout New England to familiarize people with the issues. The one closest to us will be held on Sunday, January 25th in West Bridgewater from 3-5 pm.  For more information speak with Pastor Krista.

Lay Speaking

Pastor Krista is now the co-director of our District Lay Speaking Committee.  This committee organizes classes to train people in basic and advanced lay speaking.  If you have any interest in this ministry please speak to her.  The next Lay Speaking classes will be offered Sunday afternoons, March 21, 28 and April 4.  Both basic and advanced classes will be offered for adults, along with a youth class to be taught by Krista.  The classes will be at Christ UMC in Malden.  Watch your bulletins for registration sheets as the dates approach.

New Ministry to HUMC - Parish Nursing

We have started a new ministry at HUMC called Parish Nursing.  Parish Nursing has been very popular in the Midwest for about 30 years and has spread to New England congregations in the past 10 years.  What a parish nurse does varies between congregations and also between states due to different licensing law for nurses.  Parish nurses do not take the place of a doctor or other health care provider but help church members improve their own health.  Some services a parish nurse might offer include exercise classes, blood pressure checks, health and wellness classes and general health advice.

The Parish Nurse program at HUMC will be starting small but there is always room for growth!  For now, I will be available after worship one Sunday each month for blood pressure checks and general medical questions and advice.  If I do not know the answer to your question, I will try to put in touch with someone who can answer it.  If anyone would like to make suggestions for other activities or would like to volunteer their time to help, please speak with either Pastor Krista or me.
