James J. Preciado started in Scouting as a Cub
Scout in 1966 in Pack 335 in Rivervale, NJ. He continued on until
earning the Arrow of Light in 1970 and moved on to Troop 335. In
1975, Jim earned his Eagle Scout Rank and is a lifetime
member of the National Eagle Scout Association. Jim rejoined
Scouting in 1994 when he signed on to be a Committee member of
Troop 108 in Hillsdale, then becoming Committee Chairman until
2003. He has served as Merit Badge Councilor, member of both the
Twin Valleys District and Patriots' Path Council High Adventure
Committees, District Training Committee member, Roundtable Staff,
member of Northern NJ Council Training and Camping Committees. In
2000, be began Venture crew 2 and continues to serve as Advisor.
Much of Jim's experience is with High Adventure Scouting including
Leave No Trace camping, cold weather camping and backpacking. He
has been trained in "Blue Nose" Cold weather camping by Teddy
Roosevelt Council, Philmont Scout Ranch and has completed
Venturing's Powder Horn Training and the Northeast Region Outdoor
Program Seminar. He has also completed BALOO, Scouter's Outdoor
Skills, and Climb on Safely training courses. Jim has served as
Trek Advisor for Twin Valley District Floodwood contingents,
instructor at Patriots' Path Philmont Training Weekend, twin
Valley High Adventure Open House and High Adventure Skills Days.
He has earned the Twin Valleys Scouter of the Year (2004),
District Award of Merit (2003) Twin Valley Golden Peaks Award
(2003) and the Boy Scout Leader Training Award. In 1998, Jim
became a member of the Hillsdale United Methodist Church and
served as a trustee from 2001 to 2005. He has worked with the
Bible Study Group. From 1991 to 1995 he served as an Assistant
Coach for the Hillsdale Flag Football Association and from 1994 to
1996 was part of the Hillsdale Recreation Football Staff. Jim was
a chaperone for the Hillsdale Parent-Faculty Organization
activities from 2001-2002. Jim's two sons, James III and Adam,
both earned their Eagle Scout Ranks with James also earning a
Bronze Palm. Jim lives in Hillsdale with his wife Kelly and
daughter Caitlyn. |
