Mr. Joel Laverne Smith, Sr.

Mr. Joel Laverne Smith Sr., age 68, of Griffin, passed away Saturday, Dec.
15, 2007, at Spalding Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Smith was born Feb. 12, 1939. in Upson County. Mr. Smith owned Smith Sheet
Metal and attended Highland United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death
by his wife, Joann M. Smith.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Susan and Michael Parker, of
Buford, Joel Jr. and Sherry Smith and Mark and Elizabeth Smith, all of
Griffin; grandsons, Ryan Filer and his wife, Katrina, and James Robert Smith;
sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Tim Hiers, of Barney, Ga.; brother and
sister-in-law, Tommy and Carolyn Smith, of Harlem, Ga.; aunt, Myrtice Tyson,
of Griffin; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dale and Glen Kent, of Griffin;
special friends, Jack and Rebecca Butler, of Griffin; several nieces and
nephews.
