Worship - These challenging services affirms that each of us is one of God’s children, and we need to do our part as disciples. The early service is quaint and intimate. The later service blends the message with beautiful organ music and choir voices.

Fellowship:
There are many opportunities for fellowship between services and Sunday School. Many times cookies and refreshments are available. Please join us around the table.

General Information:
First United Methodist Church is an open and caring congregation that expects visitors each week, and warmly welcomes them into the fellowship.

Worship at First United Methodist Church is affirming, exciting, and challenging. The first service mixs rich tradition with contemporary theology, providing a challenging service which encourages the congregation to wrestle with theological, social, ethical and spiritual issues. The service is more interactive and responsive, with members of the congregation being invited to share their thoughts and faith during the service. Both services are uplifting, challenging, and powerful faith statements for our contemporary world. People are encouraged to try either and then pick the service which meets their needs.

The music at both services is stimulating. We are blessed to have David Peckham at the Organ and directing the Chancel Choir, and Amy Harpster directing the Bell Choir.

First United Methodist Church expresses its commitment to Christ and to the Church by being involved in the community through mission ministries both at home and at distances. The church is active in the Horseheads/Elmira community through local mission projects, by providing a facility for community use, and by serving individuals and organizations.
