The New Building Project

Mission Teams Came to Help Even in the Snow!

The Henry Fork Service Center started in an abandoned gas station in the Henry Fork community. It has always been the dream of the staff and volunteers to have the space necessary for the children. The current building project’s goal is to fulfill that dream!

The building project has two phases:

1. Classroom Building
2. Activity and Worship Center

The Classroom Building

Phase 1 of building the new classroom building was completed in December 2005. The steel shell was completed by Quality Construction from Danville, Virginia. The interior was mainly completed with the help of volunteers and mission teams. The classroom building contains classrooms, offices, a kitchen, bathrooms, and showers. It contains 6,000 square feet.

The Activity and Worship Center

We plan to have the Activity and Worship Center ready for mission teams starting in July 2006. We need as many dedicated mission teams to make this dream a reality. Mission teams coming in the summer will be able to do the work on this large multi-purpose room. It contains an additional 6,000 square feet. The Activity and Worship Center will be above a basement. The basement will be completed as funds and mission teams become available.

Donate Your Talents

We need workers with a variety of skills and talents who can accomplish certain tasks during each phase of construction. We also can use individuals to form or lead mission teams. If you can’t form a team and want to make a difference, come on! We can use anyone’s help on this project.

Youth Teams

We used several Youth Mission teams during the summers of 2004 and 2005 to clear the land of trees, brush, blackberry bushes, poison ivy, and other trash. Some of the youth worked with the Henry Fork children, organized the clothes closet, and the rest cleared the land for the new building.
