Food
Collection
We
continue our year round food drive for non-perishable foods, which is given
to the Inter-Faith Social Services in Quincy.
The winter is just about here again and the need for
food for the hungry continues, this year maybe even more so
than in the past. Please
put any food donations in the boxes or baskets near the end of the hallway
to the right of Beach Hall
(near the men's room).
The numbers of those in need have continued to grow since the economy worsened. There is more of a need for food and assistance in this extended economic decline. For those of us who are able, please consider purchasing one or two non-perishable food items when we shop and add them to the food collection.
Clothing
Collection:
Continues year round; children's , men's , women's clothing continue tobe collected. Please place clothing in the large basket located at the end of the hallway , near the men's room. It will be distributed to area shelter and clothing bank. The Shelter annually has about 900 guest, and this year was no different. In the winter, the number increases for those in the shelters. This year the number of home forclosures has increased, and the economy has continued tp worsen and there will be more in need of our help as time goes on.
Please search your closets and attic spaces for any garments that you have not worn in some time. In times like these, style is not the prime concern, keeping warm and healthy are the greater concerns.
There continue to be guests in the Transitional Living Unit, preparing for jobs and moving into their own apartments. The move from Transitional Living to an apartment brings additional challenges and needs. One of the challenges faced is the outfitting of an apartment. If you wish to donate any of the following items, it would be greatly appreciated: clean or new sheets and pillowcases; pillows; blankets; afghans; comforters; and towels.
Please place all donated items in the large collection baskets located at the end of the hallway, along with your donations of children's , men's , and women's winter clothing. The shelters are most appreciative of any and all items donated.
Thank you, and God Bless you.
