A note from Tracy Benson: I hope this
email finds you and everyone at Heritage well. The boys and I are settling in
here in PA, but we do miss you guys. Here are the latest updates on us.
We have found a new church home. While it isn't a Methodist church, I prayed
a lot about it and really do feel that the Lord led us to this church. It is
the Christian Life Center Assembly of God church. The pastor's sermons seem
to be a mix of a southern baptist preacher and a Methodist preacher; while his
sermons are mostly about God's love, mercy and grace, about how to accept it
and what to do with it once you do, he does have that flair for waking up the
sleepers in the congregation. HAHA!
The church has a huge youth group that Cody has quickly made himself a part of and absolutely loves. The kids in the group, as well as the leaders, really have a heart for doing missions work, which excites me. The kids have been so wonderful in including Cody in everything that you'd think he'd been going there for years.
Nicholas has fit right in with the children's group. They have a special meeting for the 5th and 6th graders that he really enjoys, and the youth pastor is absolutely amazing! He's taking the kids to see the new Narnia movie coming out this weekend; Nicholas is beside himself with excitement.
The boys are doing well in school; I am enjoying my new job. We have found a nice house (technically a 2 bedroom duplex but tell the Pastor it's twice as big as the one he helped me move out of in MA.) It turns out that my neighbor in the other half of the duplex is able to watch the boys after school, so that worked out really well, too. She has two kids, a 12 year old daughter and a 16 year old son, that the kids have become fast friends with.
So, all in all, God has been wonderful in providing a lovely home, a good job, and a loving church for us. Please make sure to thank everyone for their prayers for us during this transition; they have DEFINITELY been answered!
Pastor Lee will be on vacation until June 1. In an emergency please call the pastor’s home at 978-851-0370.

Haven’t been to church? Going to church helps to establish values and
beliefs, gives you a close knit group of friends, and going to church helps
each of us find our way in a hectic world. If you haven't been to church lately,
we encourage you to attend a place of worship this Sunday. Here are some great
(and amusing!) readings found on-line:
From the Young Black Persons Guide: One of the cornerstones
of a happy and healthy life is one of spiritual fulfillment. At least, that’s
what my parents always taught me. Making at least one day for the Lord seems
like a doable thing, but I know that we all get that feeling early Sunday morning
of just wanting to stay in bed.
My family is Methodist and before I went to college, we went to church regularly. Our services were pretty mild (read: quiet) and there were a lot of old people that attended. Most Sundays, if I wasn’t participating in the handbell choir or reading a passage, it was very boring to me. I’d fall asleep during the pastor’s message and really just looked forward to the usual Sunday breakfast following service…. Read more at http://ybpguide.com/2008/05/05/been-to-church/
From the Woulda, Shoulda Coulda Blog: I’ve written before about our decision to seek a different church, because we just weren’t feeling quite at home at the one we’d been attending. This was, you understand, a really difficult decision to make, both because change is hard and we’d been going to that other church for over six months, and also because my ex immediately pounced upon the news as proof that I was a Godless heathen who would soon be decorating the children’s rooms with pentagrams.
That’s just silly, of course—pentagrams would totally disturb the feng shui in there. (I just have them put their voodoo dolls back in their special boxes alongside all the shrunken heads whenever they’re done playing with them.)
Anyway, we’d been to a few churches before settling in the one we’d attended for so long, but now we’re back to trying to find the right church home.
Here is the thing you need to understand about me and church: I’m something of a traditionalist. It feels funny, saying that, because I am not a fan of religions that take themselves SO SERIOUSLY that worship feels like an elaborate dance rather than an opportunity to commune with God. But on the other hand, I’m not so much interested in worship that’s sort of New Age-y or whatever.
I’m a Methodist. I believe in talking about God. I believe in talking about Jesus. I believe in singing songs from the hymnal. I believe in pastors giving sermons that speak to me on a real and human level. I believe in a service that lasts just about an hour. I believe in Communion being open to all who wish to partake. I believe in potluck dinners. Really, it’s not that complicated…..Read more at http://wouldashoulda.com/2008/04/08/can-i-get-an-amen/#more-1811
