| The Reverend C. Edward Pruitt comes to the Harrisonburg District from Burke United
Methodist Church on the Alexandria District.
However, Rev. Pruitt is no stranger to the
Harrisonburg District, having been the pastor of Verona Church from 1978-1988.
He has been at Burke UMC since 1993 and has served on the
Conference Board of Discipleship for eight years. He has been chairperson on Spiritual
Formation for three years and Chairperson of Alexandria District Committee on Ordained
Ministry since 2000.
Reverend Pruitt is a graduate of Scarritt College and has a Master of Sacred Theology
degree from Wesley Theological Seminary.
He also served as pastor at St. Andrews Church in Norfolk for five years and at the Mathews
Charge on the Rappahannock District for nine years.
He is married to Portia and their anniversary is Dec. 30. The couple has three grown sons (Ed Jr., Frankie and Gordon)
and four grandchildren (three boys, one girl).
Both the Rev. Pruitt and Portia are natives of Tangier Island. His birthday is Sept. 8, and hers is Sept. 27.
He loves sports of all kinds.
