First United Methodist Church of Hayward
provides various forms of support for the following
organizations:
- The Fred Finch Youth
Center
- is a residential treatment center for emotionally
disturbed teenagers operated by The United
Methodist Church and located in Oakland.
Our church is an active supported of the Center
in a variety of ways.
- Heifer Project
International
- is an interdenominational mission organization
the provides livestock and other agricultural
products, as well as proper training, to needy
persons throughout the world.
- Tri-City Health
Center
- works in partnership with the church to provide
health-care services for homeless and drug
dependent persons. Operating out of the
church education/office building from 10:00 a.m.
to 4:00 p.m. each Wednesday, we offer free,
anonymous testing for HIV and Hepatitis C
infection, as well as hot coffee, food, free
clothing and other necessary items, and a place
to sit down and get off the street for a few
hours. Volunteer training is available to
those who wish to work with this program.
- FESCO
- is the Family Emergency Shelter Coalition,
providing shelter to homeless families with
children in the Hayward area. Our church is
one of thirty congregations and other agencies
that actively support it. Our church also
provides storage space for clothing and other
supplies that are shared with the homeless
families in FESCO's program.
