First United Methodist Church of Hawthorne, Florida

United Methodist Women

The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission by active participation in the global ministries of the church.

Units of United Methodist Women throughout the world work to carry out the above stated purpose.  The unit here at Hawthorne First United Methodist Church is no exception.  With our sister units in Women's Division, we provide about half of the support of the General Board of Global Ministries by our second-mile pledges to mission and other donations.

Our members are very active in many areas of missions, freely donating time, money, and goods.  We operate a Thrift Shop each Saturday and hold an annual bazaar with proceeds from both going to local, national, and global projects.

We meet as a total unit each quarter.  The three circles meet each month.
  • Berkstresser Circle - third Wednesday, 3:00 PM, except in the summer
  • Dorcas Circle - fourth Wednesday, 9:30 AM
  • Surrency Circle - third Monday, 7:30 PM, except in the summer
All meeting times and places are listed in the weekly church bulletin and monthly newsletter.  We meet to grow spiritually through our devotions and programs, to plan mission projects, and for fellowship.

Membership is open to all women, not just United Methodist, and a cordial invitation is extended to all to become a part of this great mission organization.
