Members
of our local United Methodist Men unit are in union with over 255,000
other Methodist men church -wide. The United Methodist Church
recognizes us as a chartered fellowship in the local church and expects
us to become "servant leaders" for our families, clergy, workplace, and
community. Assistance to meet these expections is provided
through the Florida Conference United Methodist Men and the General
Commission on United Methodist Men.
Our local church-based men's
ministry provides an environment where men can be changed by the power
of God. We meet once a month in fellowship, prayer, devotionals,
enlightenment, and planning mission and services to others.
Limited bull-sessions are not infrequent!
We provide support for our
youth to attend Methodist camps, for local youth's sports, for members
of our congregation who may need assistance, and financial assistance
for our members to attend the annual retreat of Florida UMM in
Leesberg,
Florida. Our unit accepts the responsibility for maintaining the
church grounds, doing minor repair work on buildings, and providing the
"Upper Room" publication for the congregation. Car washes, church
dinners, and donations help provide funds for these missions.
Many in our local UMM group have experienced a spiritual awakening for
deeper discipleship, a need to become more active in the church and
community, and involvement in mission activities at all geographic
levels.
