It is my great privilege as the pastor whom God has appointed to serve the First United Methodist Church of Hawthorne to welcome you to our Web site. Here you will find many opportunities to make a difference for Jesus Christ. We strive to follow Matthew 25:35-36:

"For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me." NLT © 1996

We are truly a church that wants to help others become all they can be. Along with all the physical, social, and emotional needs we try to meet here in Hawthorne, we also want to meet your spiritual needs. We are called by God through Jesus "Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you." (Matthew 28:19-20a NLT). We not only want to offer you physical help, but we want you to know our best friend, Jesus, who gives us the love that helps us be all we can be. Jesus said, "I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of." (John 10:10b MSG © 1993, 2002). We pray you will have such a life as we have found in Christ. We also pray that God will lead you our way one Sunday so I can welcome you in person. It would be my honor!
