PHILOSOPHY
The philosophy of the First United Methodist Church Preschool is
to provide a warm, nurturing Christian environment that developmentally
meets the needs of the "whole child."
The Pre-school recognizes the uniqueness of each and every child, and
will encourage children to develop their capabilities and interests at
their own pace and according to their individuals needs. This approach
promotes a healthy self-concept and positive self esteem.
The program respects parents as the primary and most important provider
of care and nurturing. We believe parents and teachers are partners in
children's care and education.
GOALS
1) To encourage social development
by providing opportunities for sharing, making friends, solving problems,
and recognizing and accepting others.
2) To foster emotional development
through expressions of thoughts and feelings, taking responsibility for
one's own actions and exercising appropriate independence.
3) To
enhance the physical development of large and fine motor skills through
the use of manipulative toys, games, and activities.
4) To facilitate intellectual development
by widening the child's language and creative experience in order to increase
knowledge, basic concepts and skills.

and dedicated to service to the community.
