June Bible Study

The Book of Psalms touch every emotion we have! Whether you feel angry, grief-stricken, joy-filled, or any other felling, there is a Psalm that speaks to it. They continually remind us that God has created us with emotions, and therefore, emotions are not bad!

A case in point would be Psalm 104. I would encourage you to read the entire Psalm. This magnificent work of Hebrew poetry speaks majestically of the beauty of God's creation, and how that God has created--therefore, it is good! (Psa 104:5 NRSV) You set the earth on its foundations, so that it shall never be shaken.

It is impossible to read this masterpiece without realizing that God IS in charge-- (Psa 104:14 NRSV) You cause the grass to grow for the cattle, and plants for people to use, to bring forth food from the earth, or (Psa 104:24 NRSV) O LORD, how manifold are your works! In wisdom you have made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. It even goes so far as to suggest that god made the Leviathan just for sport (v. 26). As believers, our reaction is to be one of acknowledgement and praise-- (Psa 104:33 NRSV) I will sing to the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have being.
