Worship at Hamden Plains…..
The central focus in the life of our church and our faith is worship. The seasons of the Christian calendar provide us with various worship experiences. Advent, a time of hope and anticipation is heralded by our Greening of the Church service. The Christmas season and Easter season includes worship with special music. Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday provide a time of penitence in the Lenten season. Throughout our seasons of the year prayer, healing and sharing in the worship experience are provided to all ages.
Specifics about Hamden Plains Worship...
Our service on Sundays, September through, June is at 10:15 a.m. During the months of July and August, our service moves to 9:30 a.m. Nursery care is provided for children up to second grade.
A children’s time is incorporated during the first part of the service in order to have the children feel they have been part of the service. Older children participate in the worship service as acolytes and choir members.
Sacraments of our Faith at Hamden Plains...
As part of our response to God’s Word we participate in the most ancient rituals of our faith that most clearly identify us as Christians. The Baptismal Covenant is God’s word to us, proclaiming our acceptance of his grace through faith and love.
Usually baptisms are held during the Sunday morning worship service.
We partake in the sacrament of Communion on the first Sunday of every month. Through receiving the bread of life and the cup of the new covenant, we experience the presence of the living Christ and seek to have a deeper communion with God and one another. In the Methodist church, Communion is open to anyone who wishes to live in union with Christ.
Ministry of Music and Prayer...
The music ministry of Hamden Plains incorporates the traditional as well as contemporary styles of singing and instrumentation. An adult and children’s choir as well as an adult folk group provide music for various worship experiences.
Our church has created a prayer chapel and prayer chain to give an additional place and outlet for communication with God on a personal and community basis.
