Missions
of the
GROVEPORT UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

Go into all the world and preach the
Good news to all creation.
Mark 16:15Therefore go and make disciples of all nations.
Matthew 28:19Mission statement: As disciples, we continue the work of Jesus both locally and
worldwide with prayer, service and gifts.
Come join our Mission Committee! Be a part of the planning to carry forth the Great Commission! The Missions Committee has planned and scheduled the following projects which involved all members of the Groveport UMC.
Memorial Day: Carnations are purchased in memory and honor of loved ones and then placed on the altar. Funds raised support the Missions Committee projects.Angel Tree Camping: Working through the Prison Ministry of Charles Colson, at Christmas we adopted children living in our area whose parents are prisoners. We then sent the same children to summer camp at our United Methodist Church camps. The Prison Ministry supplies Bibles and backpacks for each child and our church supplies the additional items needed for camp filling each backpack, as well as providing transportation for the child to camp.
Jackson Area Ministries Seed Program: We participate annually in this ministry by collecting seed packages.
United Methodist Free Store (supplies free clothing and household items to those in need): Our church supports the Free Store throughout the year. Work dates are scheduled to help sort clothes, and periodic collections are made of needed items. We annually support "Back to School Day" and donate school supplies, underwear, and socks.
Samaritan's Purse: This is a Franklin Graham program wherein shoe boxes are filled with gifts for children all over the world. One of our members supplies empty shoe boxes, church members fill the boxes, and then we deliver the boxes to a pick-up station, and the boxes are distributed by the Samaritan's Purse organization to the children.
Blankets for the September Festival of Sharing: the Missions Committee collects money annually to purchase blankets for this event, sponsored by the West Ohio Conference of the UMC at the Clark County Fairgrounds in Springfield. This project endeavors to make churches aware of hunger and homeless issues.
Christmas Tree lights: a December fundraiser for the Missions Committee lights the outside Christmas tree at the church.
